Is this ok? Why not help a dire passenger who has been waiting so long, standing, and sitting on a wooden uncomfortable chair. Any thoughts? Before you respond, think about your time as a pax when you had no status, and had to wait for a long time in a very dull, outdated, and bored airport
although if a stranger offered, i'd gladly accept. but no cold calling for me!

Is this like picking up drunks outside a bar and buying them another round?
At least that is what I heard is proper procedure. FYI.
Unless of course you happen to be a magical unicorn, in which case you are free to gallop around the lounge looking for insufficiently obsequious staff to gore...
When entering an MLL first pause and kneel reverently to pay homage at the small shrine of Saint R. Milton.

One of the most fearsome displays in nature is a battle between a Magical Unicorn and a Lounge Dragon.
Someone call the National Geographic!
p.s. you may wish to leave a small aeromiles offering at the shrine. On certain Holy Days the Great Saint himself will match your donation.

Attractive females are always welcome to come as my guest;) . If a PAX came up to me I would do it for them. I have often been in line and seen a non status PAX trying to use a certificate to gain entry and I usually tell them to put that away and come in as my guest. You never know who you will meet and the good gestures will be reciprocated one day when you are in need.
Bottomline this is not a place to be a typical AC status snob!!

I've taken many "new" aquaintances into the lounge with me. However I'd be a little leery of somebody who approached me looking for a free ride!

I hope your kindness and personability will not go unnoticed. Kudos to you for exercising some generosity in a day when it seems in short supply.
As an Elite, I would usually be happy to sponsor a stranger's entry to the lounge.
As a non-status pax, I couldn't imagine approaching a stranger and asking them to get me into the lounge.
Out of curiosity, which boring and dull airport was this ?
Nothing wrong with that...enjoy the lounge and the layover!
Similar thing at YVR MLL recently, an E trying to bring two guests. The agent said one was free, the other was $20?, the E was not trying to pull a fast one and was readily whipping out the $$, I asked if I may guest his 2nd guest, again the agent was very accomodating.
One less lucky fool though. Same day at the YVR MLL, this guy was arguing with the agent about MLL access, he was busy showing her a 2005 E card along with 2006 and 2007 P cards, and was indignant that he was not allowed in with as a P. I ckin'd to the MLL and kept walking.
Sounds like you are challenging the members to a contest. :D
Since it has to be an airport with a MLL, that narrows it down.
As this was a recent experience (not YYZ T2), I would vote for LAX.
...having produced an expired MLL access card of some sort, and appearing stunned that the card had expired.

I have once offered to sponsor a stranger lounge entry - was my good deed of the day. No one has ever approached me, though I often have long since lost or destroyed my luggage tags, so it may not be obvious.
About ten+ years ago, out of sheer desperation (long story), I approached a stranger in the CP lounge to see if anyone had an extra u/g sticker for a transatlantic flight. The very first person I asked was very happy to oblige. I promised to return the favour and made sure I obtained his address and sent him one of mine when I returned home.
In the past, I also had a concierge "lend" me an upgrade, which I also duly returned. I also used to offer extra certs. to concierges so they could use them to u/g their pax.
